Project: This proposed Community Networks Program (CNP) builds on the completed CNP (2005 – 2010). It proposes to add a randomized clinical trial to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of two different approaches to motivate cervical cancer screening. Further it adds a patient navigator approach to reduce time to follow-up of an abnormal pap test. Through its four cores, the proposed Center will cover a myriad of cancer disparities and assist NCI in its endeavor to reduce such disparities.

Optimizing personalized care using economic studies of genomic testing – Admin Supplement

Project: This project will augment the understanding of the use of genomic tests in community practice to inform our cost-effectiveness analysis of genomic testing. Data from approximately 1,500 women (UM1CA173642), representative of the US population, will be collected to document indications for testing characteristics of those who are tested, and treatment differences between those who are tested and those who are not.

Project: The overall aim of this 5-year project is to capitalize on the strong theoretical and promising empirical evidence for acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as an intervention for smoking cessation by comparing the effectiveness of ACT against standard cognitive behavioral testing counseling when both are offered with nicotine replacement therapy and delivered within a real world healthcare setting.
